Hello Scotty,

I bought a Jeep Cherokee SE 4x4. I was told some day they will be a classic. Anyway, I want to fix it up. It is only 101 k miles. What do you think about this type of Jeep.

Thank you

Crystal Corey

Well as long as the frame isn't rotten sometimes those Jeeps do become classic vehicles you never know but they did make an awful lot of them so you might be waiting quite some time

now they are fun vehicles if you going to drive it a limited amount of mileage you can have some fun with it

Thank you. I love the vehicle, it was once a county vehicle. Yes there is a lot of them still, that's a good sign.

They're great vehicles and many people already see them as classics, prices have been on the rise for the last several years.

I don't think the 4-cylinder engine was available for 2001, so you'll have the 4.0 liter six. Unfortunately the cylinder heads on the 2000-2001 six-cylinder Cherokees are prone to cracking, with catastrophic results due to coolant getting into the oil. If your cylinder head has not cracked you'll want to at least keep an eye on it, if not proactively replace it. (Cracking happens between #3 and #4 cylinders and is visible through the oil filler in the valve cover.) Upgraded cylinder heads are available.

Thank you, I will watch it. It is a pretty strong engine, no leaks. Previously owned by the county.
