I was just gifted a 2001 Suzuki GV 4x4 with a 2.5L V6, 5-speed manual transmission, and a manual transfer case with 197,000miles. It was a tow vehicle behind a large motorhome, so the actual miles on the engine/transmission are much lower.
I plan on doing an oil change and change out the transmission fluid, and wanted to get opinion on anything else I should look out for.
It does have a new air filter, battery, and tires all around.
Thanks
Change out the following;
Front and rear differential oil
Transmission and transfer case oil
Engine oil, filter, pcv valve
Air filter and cabin filter (behind glovebox)
Fuel filter (behind passenger side rear tire)
Check coolant for strength with a tester
Check brake fluid, clutch fluid and power steering fluid for color and quantity
Lubricate all grease fittings on suspension and drive shafts
I would also put a meter on the battery and test for correct alternator output at idle
PS -
The transmission and transfer case use gear oil, the front and rear differentials use hypoid gear oil.
Since it is 4x4, take care that tyres wear evenly.
