Check Engine Light on my 2001 Toyota Avalon XL. OBD code reader says P0442.

I checked the gas cap as well, and did cleanup around the fill tank to ensure no evaporative leak etc but despite a new gas cap and all initial checks, the check engine light is still on.
Appreciate if you can guide us on what to do to fix this check engine light.

You might want to test the evap system for leaks using a smoke tester. It's pretty likely that rubber hoses have deteriorated over the last 23 years.
