There is an 01 Celica Gt at my local dealership listed at $2995. 170k miles needs brakes and tires as well as new motor mounts (which I can do myself). I’m assuming out the door with taxes and dealer fees it’d be around 4-4.5k and can’t decide if it’s worth the buy. It have the 1.8l engine so I know it’s not one of the Yamaha engines everyone complains about in the gts.
I really think you’re better off having that car checked out by a reputed mechanic before purchase. Even though it’s a Toyota, it’s a high mileage, 20yr old car. Who knows what all needs repairing & what shape the engine is actually in.
Consider buying it seriously, only after a good mechanic checks it out first.
I’d bring the price down a little on account of all the immediate work required.

I was thinking the same thing as far as price. If the things I listed are truly the only things wrong with it (after I have a good mechanic look it over) then I’d try to get it down to 3-3.5k at most. Thanks!
Mr Kilmer , I understand you love the 1994 celica S , I found someone who sells a 1994 celica GTS , could you give me your opinion on that one ,is there a big difference between the S and the GTS ?
thanks
