- I currently drive a 2005 Ford Taurus se sedan with 52k miles. It’s an auto with a 3.0L vulcan motor. I have the opportunity to either keep my car or to trade it for my dads 2009 toyota matrix s auto (2.4L engine) with 92k miles. Both are in good shape, Taurus has needed small things, the toyota has never needed anything. I guess i’m wondering what you think is more likely to last me a few problem free years. The 2.4 L in the Toyota is known to have oil consumption issues but my dad has never had a problem. Thanks

Both of these cars are actually pretty reliable. I would keep both.
Worse case you sell one in a few years for more than you paid.

I've seen some Matrix up there in mileage without any real repair. Plus I like the styling personally.
I'd go Matrix.

The oil burning is usually between 70-100k miles. My friend has a Rav4 2.4 burns oil a lot 70k miles not sure if it will happen on the Matrix but the Taurus is relatively low miles I would keep it.
