Hello Scotty I have 2 Tacoma's, a 2000 and a 2001 both with 230k. When I turn the key you hear the starter click and hum but nothing happens. Sometimes I get lucky and it will start after a few tries. I have noticed in my 2000 taco that if slowly turn the key from ON to START the truck will start fine. Is my ignition switch going out or my starter? When do these components typically fail? How can you know then difference? Thank you

By testing the starter and the switch.
