Greetings from Minnesota Scotty
I have a 2002 Buick Lesabre with the 3800 series II V6 engine with 191,500 miles. I feel a misfire when I am idling to going under 40 mph, then when I go over 40 miles per hour, I here a knock in the engine and then it trips my check engine light to flash. When I am going under 40 mph or idling it does not trip the check engine light, it only trips the check engine light and makes a knock sound when I try to accelerate over 40 mph. What could this be? Could It be bad spark plugs, bad coils, or bad gasoline?
Junk it.
What is the code?
I can’t get a code because my check engine light is currently not on. And now I can’t feel a misfire.
There are temporary codes and permanent codes. Unless you've erased the temp codes, they are still available. Permanent codes, obviously, can't be erased. You'll need a scan tool to access them.
As for the misfire, perhaps it was a tank of bad gas, particularly if it doesn't recur. Time will tell all.
As for "junkin" a car, here's how I view it: Get the data and diagnosis first. Then make a decision.
