2002 camry 2.4l le has lean code p0171 and idles like up and down rythmically when accelerating especially going uphill
I thought it could be the vsv stuck but what are your thoughts scotty? It does have about 330,000 miles lol
it can't be idling when you accelerate, so it sounds like it just happens all the time.
Anyway, check for vacuum leaks.
@imperator it does do it when idling just doesn't sound as bad and sometimes it seems to not do it as bad like on some cold low humid days but it's strange it doesn't usually ever do it when I apply full throttle. Maybe it's a clogged or faulty injector I thought or the vacuum switch valve is stuck open I replaced the vcv right behind the air intake

You can also measure your fuel pressure, run some injector cleaner, etc.
