- Hey scotty, I did a gear oil change on my 2002 camry 2.4L 5 speed and now it grinds in 3rd gear almost everytime I shift, if I shift slower it doesn't grind, would it be worth putting a used transmission in it that comes with new clutch and clutch hydraulics? Hardly any rust, rame is solid, 188,000 miles, motor runs like a top everything else is mint.

I would not use a rebuilt transmission. If you are going to spend the money get a new one and avoid all the headaches of having a rebuilt one that isn't built right.

I'm not sure what the others will say... But, I maybe would.. because you could get another 180 put of that motor.. there are other parts to consider, obviously.. if you need a tranny, maybe. Seems odd that it started doing it when you changed the fluid
