230k runs great.. no leaking.. wondering if high mileage oil could cause more probs than it might help.. ? causing leaks ?
thanks for the know-how, keep cranking 'em out Scotty
I'm not really sold on the "high mileage" oils. I would keep using what you have been.
Me too. I have yet to hear an explanation of how high mileage oil is different, or what it does. So I'm going to assume that it's just a different label on ordinary oil.
suppose to help aging seals & rubber ..it is said if the aging seals & rubber components are at breaking point it can push it to blow/begin to leak.. some say it is the way to go to help keep the status quo
The oil manufacturer claims it helps seals?
I think that you can just add seal restoration products when and if you develop any leaks. I would want to see some hard evidence that there's any benefit to using such a product on a healthy engine now because I'm very skeptical.
Agreed
Why would you want to fix something that isn’t broken?
What does your owner’s manual recommend?
was thinking at some point is it preventive maintenance changing over ?
What oil are you using currently? To be safe and since your vehicle is running ok with no leaks and due to its mileage, just stick to the same oil you have been using.
bought it recently, really nice (did a few things to it, might see tags) only 2.5 owners, both worked in same hospital, lived in same neighborhood, both administers.. used as a commuter car by both, only the driver seat shows use and a young man owned it for a few months while attending the fire academy.. ford motor heads, dad so proud of son picked this up for him while supping up his kid's stang while bcing a fireman like dad ..being a firefighting family they knew the second owners via the hospital ..they changed the alternator, bought a battery.. as far as i kno for sure the latest users used syn mobile one
