Assuming everything checks out: yes and yes.
Look for the timing belt. Check out the condition of the timing belt. And if it needs to be changed, change it out. Maybe use a worn timing belt as part of negotiating the price down.
Thanks, i also heard the transmission in earlier hondas are pretty weak.
The transmission on a 2002 should be ok. It’s the next generation you have to worry about.

The transmission might be faulty on that model year. Have a pro check it out before buying it.
