Hey scotty! I have a 2002 honda civic with 250k miles still running great however the engine is puttering at idle and we think it could be loos valve springs. Again who knows when was the last time they were adjusted. The puttering also causes a misfire during acceleration sometimes. It only does it when it's warm not cold.

Definitely time to do a valve clearance check/adjust- not hard to do on a 4 cyl Honda (plenty of videos on Youtube on that). How old are the plugs, wires and coil? Check air and fuel filters?Use spray cleaner on the MAF sensor and throttle body?
You must be doing most everything right to get to 250k, but even Honda engines need some maintenance from time to time.
