Greetings all + Scotty, of course always!! I've taken an interest in possibly buying this car from a Private Party BUT an area of concern is nagging away at me as follows. Please check the Facebook link below and this seller's verbiage says:
SELLER'S DESCRIPTION: 2003 Acura MDX $2,500
Third row, leather seats, sunroof, all-wheel drive. Stalling out after making complete stops. You need to manually shift down to D2 and then back up to D5. A sensor replacement should fix the problem. TRUE or NOT TRUE, that is the question?
Sold as is. Thank you!

Logically, why don't the seller simply replace this sensor and make tranny shift normally for an easier sell? What do you think, suspicious concerns? This car appears well taken care of meaning is true or dare of concerns. Would a Scan Tool decipher this issue? Input if you please and thank you Scotty for all you do, don't forget to retire... {black}:nerd:
Those cars are notorious for transmission failure the 03 model was on the 10 least reliable cars list Scotty read a while back the older ones are subpar SUVs.
Here is the owner complaint list: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Acura/MDX/2003/
The same transmission was part of a class action lawsuit in California
I would walk. The transmission is probably on it's way out.
As you may realize, I'm a newbie and may make procedural errors or lack thereof. Thank you so much for your answers reaffirming my speculation that this vehicle in fact is a lemon with evidence provided accordingly, I truly am grateful.
Now how to find a trouble-free orange, a high-risk effort dealing with private parties off of Craigslist & Facebook, what can one trust? It's safe to presume most private parties are selling because their reason for selling is vehicle issues or the lifespan is nearing its end.
Again, thank you so much and I am truly happy Scotty put me here, remain well in peaceful balance to take good care of it all...
