Hey scotty I have a 2003 chevy avalanche and when shifting gears it makes a loud clunking noise is my transmission bad and how much do you think it will cost to fix
Over 220,000 and yeah it makes noise when shifting from park and jerks

It could be that. How many miles on the car?
Do you also hear the clunking noise when you put the car in gear from park?
Considering the mileage and the symptoms, I would say the transmission is on its last legs.
