My dad has a 2003 Dodge half ton pickup with a Cummins diesel engine and 144k miles on it. He has offered it to me for $1,000 less than trade-in value. On one hand I know that he took good care of it and the Cummings Diesel is a good engine. On the other hand I recognize that it's a 20-year-old Chrysler product. Do you think it'd be a good investment? Thank you
The 5.9 Cummins diesel engine is a bulletproof engine. They can run forever. Is this a manual or automatic transmission? What did he offer in full?
Is an automatic transmission unfortunately, 10k
The Ram pickups with the Cummins can be decent pickups. Have a mechanic look it over. If it still runs great, I would go for it.
Trade in values are not a whole lot as it is.. if he is offering even a few hundred less than trade in for a cummins of the era I would scoop it in a heart beat, especially if its a manual and you like to drive a stick.
