Should I buy this used Jeep

I’m thinking about getting another vehicle sometime soon. One of my favorites I’ve looked at is a 2003 Wrangler Sahara Sport. I commute to college a lot but I’m not worried about the gas mileage or comfort as much. And I know it’s a fun car to drive. I’m just wanting to get some perspective on its reliability. Is it reliable or cheap to keep up with or should I keep looking.

The 4.0 inline six is reliable, but that thing is 20 years old and a lot can happen to a vehicle in that time. (You did not state mileage or transmission type.)

You don't know how it's been maintained and a lot of Jeeps have been modified and thrashed offroad to within an inch of their lives which doesn't help any. On the plus side there is a lot of support for Jeeps out there. Be very careful of frame rust and be sure to have it evaluated by a good mechanic before purchase.

Yeh I probably should’ve included more information. It has 115,000 miles on it. It’s an automatic transmission and it does have the 4.0 engine in it! It appears to be in great condition. And the person selling it says they’ve been getting it prepared to give it to someone but that person ended up getting a truck or something. But overall, it seems like it would be a great vehicle. I will still be looking out for other vehicle for the time being. Thanks for you response!

Look up death wobbles, that would be exciting in a jeep.

If you want something off road capable, but very reliable, my suggestion is look for a 4Runner. It may not be as capable as a jeep, as it has longer wheelbase, but they are very good off road. A 3rd gen could be had for pretty cheap these days, yet if taken care of can still last a long time. Maybe even a well taken care of XTerra.

That Jeep isn't the worst, but I hope you can handle a lot of your own work, or have plenty of money.
