Just installed a new VTEC assy gasket on my 2003 Pilot with 350K+ miles. Still has a small leak(compared to pre-install) coming from the seam about 1.25" to the right of the top bolt. Cleaned both surfaces pretty well with carb cleaner. Used a borrowed, older, maybe questionable, torque wrench to tighten bolts to 16 ft/lbs. Don't know if I should tighten the top bolt more, or if I should pull it apart again and clean surface again in the leaking spot. Maybe some surrounding debris fell between surfaces at the leak spot when installing, and is preventing tight closure?
What do ya'll think?
Be careful tightening an already tightened bolt. I've snapped a few, even using a Torque Wrench, after tightening. Never retighten after a Torque. Loosen it up first.
