I just got my 2003 Chevy Tahoe back today from needing a new Fuel Pump, and now it is making a loud humming sound when I am accelerating at 25-30 MPH, and when I am stopping, it doesn't make this noise when it Idles. What could be wrong?
Loud humming noise usually pertains to the fuel pump system. I'm not sure if they repaired old or put in new; however, I would check if its clogged or if they did the procedure improperly then it could be building up fuel inside the housing. To me sounds like pressure issue within the fuel pump. Because accel./braking will exurt fuel to and fro in fuel transactions.
If wasn't making before you had that fixed take it back to them and ask what the hell that's about. I've heard crazier stories where guys pull out of the shop and their bumper fall off or they start leaking oil or something but the shop owes you some answers
Could be the new pump is defective in some way and will fail shortly. The shop should warrantee it. Ask them if they replaced the strainer and pulsator, if it had one, and fuel filter , if an inline filter is used, . Was the fuel tank damaged, bottom pushed up against the pump pick up.
How this shop handles your concerns can determine whether or not you wish to continue doing business with them.
Did you get the fuel filter replaced when the new fuel pump was replaced ? If they did..I wonder if they threw away the fuel pump bracket away.....
