Just bought a 2004 Grand Marquis with 23,000 miles, original owner. Changed all fluids and seems great. What oil do you recommend and whats your opinion on these cars? Thank you.
5W-20. They are very reliable cars.
The Grand Marquis is part of the Panther platform from Ford. It is a sister car to the Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town car. Properly maintained, these cars are known to go many 100k's of miles. They ride like you are sitting on a couch but yet they have enough power to get up and go.
I owned a Crown Victoria and finally sold it after 265000 miles. All the fluids were changed on a regular schedule and I only used synthetic oil from the day i purchased it.
But, be prepared to deal with small things as it is a 16+ year old car.
The car is a TANK! Thats a great find for low miles. I would make sure your cooling system is up to snuff due to age!
