I have a 2004 honda civic lx with 118k miles with Engine code P404 for EGR , New EGR same issue, I think it is the EGR ports that are clogged up! what you think? the car is automatic and does not stall it drives pretty good for 15yr+ car what do you think before I take it to a mechanic?

This is an electrical problem, not mechanical. That's why replacing parts didn't help.

Follow the diagnostic procedure here:

I agree with MMJoe on this one.  After looking at the problem again and you having replaced the EGR valve, there must be an electrical problem with the DPFE sensor.  Follow the teasting procedure MMJoe gave you the link to.  Part is $14.95 at Partsgeek.com.

It could be clogged ports on a 17 year old car.  Is the new EGR valve properly installed with a new gasket and connected correctly?

yes it is connected properly , i just bought the car last week , with the issue , took apart EGR cleaned it bc its new put new gasket , clear code still came back , so i agree with you the ports has to be the culprit
