Hey, I am looking to buy used suv that can be good for snow here in PNW. I want a reliable car as it will be my daily driver. both lexus and toyota are at a similar price $4500. Any big common problems with these cars?
At that age & mileage, they’re both bound to be due for some wear & tear maintenance. You need to have them checked thoroughly by a professional mechanic, before purchase, to check what shape they’re in & what immediate work is required.
If they have any serious issues with the engine or transmission, or rust, walk.
Are these your only options in your area or do you have budget constraints?
I have budget constraints. I have like $4k to spend. I did not look for any other options as these I thought were the best I saw. Still need to negotiate them down lol!
I’d stick to the Highlander in that case, since parts may be cheaper than the Lexus. However, getting a pre purchase inspection is mandatory on any old, high mileage vehicle. And yes, negotiate as hard as you can. All the best!
