2004 Nissan Pathfinder- codes and vibration

Scotty,

Have a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder with 141k on it. runs and shifts great however there are a few issues that i would like to resolve. First and foremost, i have two codes- PO455 (Large evap leak) and PO1448 (vent control valve). I've replaced the charcoal canister and did a smoke test and did not notice a leak anywhere...im kind of lost at this point.

The other issue im running into is an aggressive vibration at over 55 mph that goes away around 80 mph. Ive replaced the up and lower control arms, shocks and springs and also the u-joints. Even have new tires changed and still am running into the issue.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tom

I have a pro alignment I check at first could be a bad alignment I mean normally that's just bad tires are bent rims but alignments can do that too. It's for the EVAP systems get a smoke leak test watch my video finding engine vacuum lakes with cigar you can either use a cigar or get a smoke machine to find where the leak is

That model of Pathfinder (‘96 to ‘04) often experienced "shimmy" front end right out of a showroom at about 85-95 km/hr. Dealers mostly were unable to solve this problem.

Anyway, on 4WD models, best way to minimize this "shimmy" is to play with a torque on front hubs, … tighten it a bit more than a spec calls for and see if it helps. Often it does. Also toe-in, … dial it in to zero. Makes the steering less communicative ( more “dead" on centre), but reduces vibration significantly and often completely.

Also, Nissan installed 265 wide profile tires on some of them. These were too wide and too heavy, too bouncy, … 245 wide, and especially lightest you can find (34 lbs or less) reduced vibration as well. Fwiw.

Thank you, Both!

I'll start with a getting an alignment and see where it goes from there. ill also look into having a smoke test done...

Will follow up with results.

Happy new year!
