2004 Suzuki XL7 transmission jerks automatic

Question

Shift to Drive and it doesn't move forward. Shift to reverse, it backs up. Shift to drive and again it doesn't move. I shift to park, then drive again and it finally moves. Is there anything I can do to correct this issue. I've checked the transmission oil and it's ok.

Has the transmission been properly serviced over the last couple of decades? Are there any transmission codes?
