Truck runs fine at the start then either while sitting or a short drive will start to misfire and lose power. The truck has been heavily reworked on the engine from having the cam replaced, valves lapped, seals replaced, and headgasket replaced. My aunt would like to sell it to me if I can fix it. I think it might be the sensors for the cam and crank. Just trying to get more info or to see if anyone else had similar problems that may have resolved the question above. Its the Dayton addition package if that helps narrow down the issue.

Here to bump the post. The codes it was showing are o2 sensor not heating, random misfire, and vent valve canister.

Clarification: what is the current mileage on the truck?

180××× it ran perfect several days a go. The head gasket has been replaced, liftsers and rods set, spark plugs, coils, valves were reseated, cam replaced, all the o2 sensors were replaced.

Why was the engine heavily reworked?  How mechanically inclined are you?  At first glance, those seem like red flags and best to  avoid that truck - she hasn’t sold to you yet.  Transmissions on those are also weak (does it have a new transmission?) and you are looking at potential electrical issues overtime.    I would pass on it.

Because of the random misfire issue. I wouldn't be giving an arm and a leg for it. I'd like to try and restore the truck with it being a numbered truck.

I agree with daywalker. Not worth the trouble.
