Hey Scotty, I have a 2005 civic sedan with an intermittent starting issue. The car runs great but sometimes when it's been heat soaked it won't start again. Jumping the positive terminal on the battery to the small starter lug will start the car every time. I replaced the starter 2 months ago and didn't have the problem before. I replaced it again just to be sure. New battery and alternator. Grounds appear functional. Im not grsat with electric but i can check for currents. Someone who ran the codes said I needed a vtec solenoid though that did not fix the issue. Im at a loss.
If hot-wiring the starter fires it up you may have a bad relay, fuse, wiring issue, or you might have a worn ignition switch, like this one:

@chucktobias what kind of wiring issue. Ignition switch has been replaced. Was going to try and swap the starter relay next time it does it.
Any damaged wires, bad connection, or short in the wiring.
what kind of wiring issue
could be anything really. One by one, isolate and test components and wire runs to eliminate them until you're left with the source of the problem.
I would grab a schematic from charm.li to guide you.
