A family member is offering a 2005 Corolla 286k miles for $1800. It has been in the family for over a decade. I also believe it was made in Japan as well. Is this worth it?
It could be okay, as long as you know the maintenance was done properly. oil and transmission fluid changes. Also that it was not driven hard consistently. The big plus is that you know the dhistory of it.
If it has good tires, and needs basically nothing, running good, it is worth something. I would offer $1500 though, and at that mileage is pretty fair. If it has been treated well, it could last a good many more years.
There was an accident on Carfax but that was like 2007, no airbags deployed. I'm assuming this car was cared for well as that was over 200k miles ago! I'll try to ask for lower but they also agreed to allow me to pay in small increments.
