So I only paid 500 for my 05 p71. It only has 122359 miles mostly which is highway mileage. The department that had hit before only used it for transporting. The only problem is the transmission. It works with overdrive off and I have to rev it up a little to get it into an forward gear reverse works fine. With overdrive off it works great and works good at high speeds with it on. Is it something cheap I can fix? Or what would be the best option for my situation?
Have you checked the level and condition of the automatic trans fluid? What have you found?
The levels were fine and the fluid looked good no burning smells or discoloration
Probably the only way to get info on what's causing this behavior is to hook up a high capability scanner to see what part of the trans is malfunctioning - but something tells me that a major trans fix or installing a used one might be out of the question.
