Dear Scottie

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota 3.7l V6 4x4 Automatic with 129450 Miles on it. I had a evap leak a smoke test was done by a local shop. It was leaking at the o ring on leak detection  Pump on The Charcoal canister and the clamp on the fuel filler side hose. Both was fixed and verified fixed. Codes were cleared after 3 days driving i now have po455 large evap leak. A smoke test didn't reveal anything by the same shop. What could be causing this? Both the charcoal canister and leak detection pump were new along with purge valve solenoid about a year ago and not driving 15000 miles during that time. I am stumped and the shop is stumped. Could it be in the computer? It was a rebuilt and reprogrammed one to my vin number. It is about a year old and been working fine as far as i know? It also started idling funny and hard shifting  when the po 455 code come up. I am at a loss i know the evap hoses run through the frame not under it. Thank you scotty for your help Sincerly

Well you got a large leak code after the work. I'm assuming the work was done incorrectly. Either the old rings the wrong size or some of that plastic crap broke when you were taking it apart. That's the only thing that makes sense in an order to test and evap system. It's a giant pain in the ass. You need a bi-directional scan tool that can open and close various valves so you can test each section of the system. Just putting a smoke check machine on the system will not check it correctly without the scan tool to open and close parts of the system because some are normally close, some are normally open and they all have to be tested using a scan tool

Morning Thank you Scotty I appreciate it very much. I hope i can find someone besides a dealer that is not going to charge me my left arm and right leg and first born child?
