Bought a 2005 Honda Odyssey for $2000
196k miles. And I'm seeing maintenance records showing it was maintained and taken care of.
Changed the radiator, and some fluid came out. Topped it off with a quart of this valvone trans fluid, that says full synthetic and specifies that it's compatible with the Honda Z fluid it calls for.
Should my trans be ok, or do I need a shop to take out ALL the fluid, and put all genuine Honda fluid.
My main question here is wi one quart of non genuine trans fluid, destroy the trans, even tho it says it's compatible with the Z1
Might not trash it immediately but why risk damaging it. Best to stick with Honda transmission fluid. Personally I would NOT mix fluids in a Honda transmission or in a Honda power steering, I would change any non-Honda fluid to all Honda fluid.
(Please put a summary of your question in the title, not the car. Thanks)

well that depends on if it needs it. Does it shift? Did you look at the fluid?
What does the fluid look like? When was it last changed? When was the last time the pan was cleaned out and filter changed?
See our FAQ to see what good fluid should look like.
I'm guessing you didn't do any research before buying this thing, or get a mechanical inspection.
You should know that 2005 was one of the WORST years of the Odyssey, and that transmission failure is common.

Aloha
I watched a couple videos on the 05 and 06 Odyssey by Scotty on YouTube before buying.
Un sure when was last changed. But was still smelling good when I got it.
