I have 2005 Matrix, same problem described here. First local mechanic replaced relay. Same problem. Took it Toyota Dealer; they said it was expansion valve. Took back to local mechanic to do work--$2000 LATER now it only blows warm or outside air! HELP--taking to another dealer tomorrow. I am 71 year old disabled female senior citizen on fixed income. Any ideas?
Please do not "hijack" other threads to ask about a car problem, start a new topic instead. (Post split off to its own topic, link provided to referenced previous post.)

The first thing you need to do is STOP going to dealers. They will rake you over the coals and don't care that you are on a fixed income. Most would rip off their own grandmothers to make a buck. That car is pushing 18 years old and you can easily spend more than it's worth for dealer service and still not have the problem solved.
Likewise do not go to chain shops such as Firestone, Midas, or Pep Boys, etc. Find a good independent mechanic in your area, preferably an AC expert, to diagnose the problem.
