My 2005 miata manual transmission has a stuck fill plug. I need better leverage, but can't seem to get it because of short distance from plug to ground. The other problem is finding a socket that fits well and has adequate points that will allow better maneuverability in a limited motion area due to transmission supports.
use a flex extension
Just use a long box wrench. I recall it’s 24 mm size. There is room. Place a box over the plug, block it with piece of wood so it does not slip out as you pull on the wrench, … counterclockwise.
Mind you, you have to have a car on four very solid blocks, … so you can crawl under, get as comfy as you can before you pull. And make sure those blocks are solid, and no matter what, won’t give and drop the car! Good luck, …

Oh, and if yours has a reinforcing brace, you have to remove it first!
