I have recently replaced the battery for my Toyota Corolla XRS. It has been sitting for well over a few months.

I was able to start the car, however when I tried to shift the car into gear the car then shut off. When I tried again to turn the car on again, I just got some brief engine revs but it won't turn over.

I also noticed that the check engine light, battery light and oil light were still on. A friend told me it could be the alternator, but I'm going to grab a scan tool before I make that purchase and try to fix it or get it checked out. I do plan to do a oil change since the car has not had one in about a year but this vehicle mainly serves as a vehicle for me to practice driving manual in so I don't put in too much mielage yearly.
