Noisy manual transmission

As the title says I have a 2019 Toyota Corolla with a Manual Transmission making noise when I have the Clutch De-pressed. When driving I dont hear it and when the clutch is pressed in I dont hear any noise. I just spent 740 dollars replacing the clutch entirely since we thought it was the Slave Cylinder. My mechanic thinks its something to do with the Transmission. I only have 74k miles on the car...what do I do?

I'm not sure why the slave cylinder was replaced. That wouldn't make noise, if not working the clutch would not release properly.

It appears that you are making contradictory statements about when the noise occurs:

making noise when I have the Clutch De-pressed. ...

when the clutch is pressed in I dont hear any noise

Which is it? If you hear noise when the clutch pedal is depressed that's usually the throwout bearing. If the noise occurs when the clutch pedal is not depressed it's usually the pilot bearing.

Noises can telegraph all over a car and the source is not always what it initially appears to be. Your mechanic should be able to put the car on a lift and use a mechanic's stethoscope to pinpoint the source of the noise. Or, you could consider a noise finding device like the ones Scotty has demonstrated in his videos.

@chucktobias That's a neat gadget.

So if It is the transmission what are my options? Like do I talk to Toyota or go to a dealer to get them to fix it for free?

If it is the transmission and the car is out of warranty Toyota is not obligated to fix it for free, you would have no legal recourse (assuming there is no recall or extended warranty in effect). However if you make enough noise with Toyota corporate they might pay for at least part of it. You're getting ahead of yourself though since you don't know what the problem is yet.

What noise? Do you hear it when driving or also when stopped? Does it affect driving performance?

Transmission making noise when I have the Clutch De-pressed.

Do you hear it only when you press the clutch pedal, or when you shift in a gear, or when you release the clutch pedal?

At what time does it make noise? Is it while in neutral?

@fordfan Always does when the clutch is not pressed. It just gets faster when im driving

The noise goes AWAY when I press the clutch in. He said it could be the throw out bearing as well

@agitha-peach I would say definitely have the throwout bearing checked along with the slave cylinder.

@agitha-peach If the noise occurs when the clutch pedal is NOT depressed then it would be the pilot bearing most suspect, not the throwout bearing. (Of course while in there everything should be checked.)

So if It is the transmission what are my options? Like do I talk to Toyota or go to a dealer to get them to fix it for free? Will I have to get an attorney? 74k miles on a transmission on a TOYOTA is unheard of...especially on a manual

Perhaps this video gives you a clue what it could be
