My dad just bought a 2005 toyota highlander for my sister today for $3000, 140k miles, 4 cylinder. We replaced the oil and oil filter, and the sparkplugs, but when we were remving the sparkplug wiring harness, we snapped the clips off of each one. Would it be ok to leave it without the clips or should we buy new ones? The automatic shifts perfectly, and it drives great. At idle when it first starts up it is a littlr shaky, but it goes away after it has been driven a little. Is this normal? Any other maitenence we should do on it to make it more reliable?
You can leave the clips off they don't fall off at it for did fall off you can push it on and put a little silicone sealer over the top to keep it from falling off and as the age they'll often shake a little when they start up cold
It's unavoidable, those clips get brittle from the age and heat from the engine, you're fine.
