Should I buy a Jeep Commander

What are your thoughts on the Jeep Commander with the 4.7lt engine? I’m 6-3 so I need the headroom. I often go off-roading. And I want a 4x4 that I can flat tow. Thanks

No. Get a land cruiser.

Stay away.  See below at 13:50 from Master Mechanic The Car Wizard (starts off mentioning the 5.7L Hemi V8 but the remaining issues apply to all the Commanders):

Not recommended. For one, it is too top heavy for good off-roading. For two, as others have said, their quality is awful.

Sure you can get one cheap, but there are reasons why.

According to Toyota, the Land Cruiser can not be flat towed.  Neither can their other off-roaders like the 4runner or FJ Cruiser.  For the complete list see below:

In general a 4x4 that can be flat-towed would have a "Neutral" position in the transfer case, but you do need to check the owner's manual for the specific vehicle being considered for towing instructions. (Best is a manual transmission with manual transfer case and manual hubs, but you'll be hard-pressed to find that in a modern vehicle.)

Sure am glad I kept my '81 Toyota truck with manual trans {black}:laughingoutloud: , transfer case and locking hubs.

That’s it’s. No additional responses. Ok. Can a Land cruiser with auto transmission be flat towed? Can a 6’-3” person fit without touching the roof liner?
