2006 2.3l Ford Ranger - Shutter then stall when coming to a stop - 144000 miles

I just spent an hour driving on the highway. When I got off and came to a stop at a light, the truck shuttered as I applied the brakes and then stalled at full stop. No check engine light or other dash lights. Any advice? There was no strange behavior before this.

No oil leaks or trans leaks. No coolant present in oil or trans fluid.

Truck is automatic.

Maintenance history:

Bought the truck at 108000 miles almost 3 years ago.

- regular oil changes every 3 to 5 thousand miles

- new fuel pump at 108000 miles (manually replaced the motor itself not the entire assembly)

- rear-dif fluid changed at 115000 miles (done by me)

- trans fluid changed at 135000 miles (done by trusted mechanic)

- replaced fuel filter at 135000 miles (done by trusted mechanic)

- replaced IAC and TP sensor at 135000 miles (done by me)

- valve cover gasket and valve cover replaced at 140000 miles (done by trusted mechanic)

If it stalled only when you pressed on the brake, check for a vacuum leak at the brake booster. Spray it with carb cleaner. Either the vacuum hose going to the intake manifold or the diaphragm inside may be wearing out. Those leaks tend to stall the engine because of their size.
