i'm looking at getting a new truck, i'm essentially settled on the k series 4wd chevy trucks that you recommend, i just figured i'd ask, which engine is better between the 7.4 and the 5.7? is there any reliability or fuel economy advantages one has over the other? i'm meaning this to be a daily driver if that helps

I would keep my mind open until I knew what was available to me.
fuel economy advantages one has over the other?
Generally speaking, the larger the engine displacement, the more fuel it uses.
Neither will be great on gas. I wouldn't expect much more than 12 mpg.
is there any reliability ... i'm meaning this to be a daily driver if that helps
I wouldn't really categorize any 20 year old vehicle as reliable. Usually they become very costly and a pain to keep running. Chassis parts go out of production, so you'll be sifting through the dregs at the boneyard.
i know that scotty really likes those 90s era c/k series trucks that's what made me consider getting one
Sure if you’ve owned one since the 90s and looked after it and it’s not all rotten then it might be worth hanging on to. But buying a used one right now is another story.

@MoutainManJoe
oh the pain I feel right now lol trying to find parts are a nightmare cause everyone is a little rat thinking of the inflated value of things.

To add to what MMJ, Pretty much any vehicle below 95 wouldn't have the OBD2 standard so keep an eye out for that. What would you be getting it for as well, if it's a working vehicle you gotta make sure you're not getting ripped off on top of if it was well maintained. These trucks, I would assume are jumping in value because of "sqarebody"
If you are getting the 4th gen they have a very easily accessible "stealme" junction underneath the hood on the right side lol but that is pretty much all I know bout it.
