What part of the engine is this? 2009 Hyundai/Kia 2.0

Yesterday our car wouldn't crank or start. I checked the crank no start section of the FAQ and tried jump starting the car because we thought it was the battery. It didn't work, and it needs a new battery. Then we noticed the part in red above was cracked and leaking air, and when my dad put wire around it and closed the gaps, it started! But it still needs a new battery. My question is, what is the part called? The closest thing I could find online was "Air Cleaner Intake Duct Hose" for the part highlighted in blue, but only a listing on ebay uses it I can't find teh actual name of the red part (the blue part name would also help). I think it might have "air" or "intake" in the name but I am not a mechanical expert and thus don't know what its called. What I learned from my father is that this part is like an "outtake" which takes cold air out according to the internet so I doubt it would have intake in the name but I have no idea.

Another thing, I was only able to find two for sale both on ebay (I don't know the name so thats the closest I got) and one costed $500 and the other $50 I am confused.

TIA

Also vehicle is 2009 Kia (with Hyundai parts) w/120k miles if that matters. Engine is the 2.0 Beta II series 4 cylinder

It won't run right until you correct it. I would just get a replacement OEM piece from the dealer. They aren't very much. Maybe $100 - $200 bucks. Swapping them is easy. You can do that yourself.

Thanks for the clarification. What do you think about trying luck out with a salvage yard part? Obviously it won't last as long as brand new OEM but aren't those free?

You still have to pay for it. I would skip used because anything that has had a front end collision likely has a cracked intake tube. Also it's been sitting out uncared for in a salvage yard. Plastics will crack as they age, but will crack faster in extreme heat.

Thanks, if we want it to last a long time dealer OEM parts are the way to go like you said. The thing is its an old Kia with electrical problems and my dad said its not worth putting any money into. I was thinking about this new one on ebay,

thoughts?
We can also get a fully coverage 2 year warranty plan for 7 dollars according to ebay

For the price, why not? It SHOULD work, but as I tell everyone with anything ebay-related, realize nothing is guaranteed. But you're not talking a lot of money and, just being honest, it isn't exactly rocket science to make an intake duct. I'd say go ahead and give it a try.

Thank You very much, I will show this to my father tomorrow.

You're welcome. 🙂

That would be the air intake hose. You have a vacuum leak that needs to be addressed.

Thank You, how urgent do you think it is? I think the front part is just cracked and out of place, not sure if thats considered a vacuum leak. As in will driving it to take it to an oil change cause damage? Also what price should it be? 30 bucks or 500 bucks? So many different ones out there.

That’s the air intake vent. Or air inlet intake. Here’s some for a sorento. What model is yours?

2009 Kia Sportage 2.0

I also promise I wasn't joking when I said it might have "air" or "intake" in the name, I genuinly guessed. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

One more question, I see them for $30 and I see them for $500, which ones would you recommend? The car isn't worth much so to put half a grand sounds foolish but 30 bucks sounds like it might break tomorrow. My father and I think to get it from Autozone, thoughts on that?

I’d get one from a salvage yard and save yourself some money. I doubt Autozone will have them. Usually those are dealer only.

See if this one looks same as yours.

It's the same part number and looks similar. I will bookmark it. What do you think about this one, its (claimed) brand new?

Actually nevermind this one below is for 2.7 engine not 2.0
https://www.ebay.com/itm/174490035607
i dont know if they are interchangable

The one i gave is correct engine adn part

I’d get the 2.0 one that looks right on Ebay. I asked if it looked like yours because on some cars they are the same regardless of engine.

The second one is correct part, but it has 44$ shipping and will take a month to come, so thats not an option. If you like the link I picked, I would show that to my dad, or try out salvage yard/dealer.

Thanks for your time and responses, I will choose between these options.

I’d call them and verify the part number because the pic the show isn’t the correct part.

Here’s another in Wisconsin and not Bulgaria. I really need to change my search options. 🤣🤣

call the seller on ebay ? The part number on the ebay listings matches with ours I believe, but I'll check tomorrow if thats what you mean. What do you mean when you say the picture doesn't show the correct part? (refeirng to this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-Air-Cleaner-Intake-Duct-Hose-for-2005-10-Tucson-Sportage-282102E100-/332819507509 )

NM the first pic has it upside down. Lol, it didn’t look the same to me. It’s right.
