2006 Chevy Impala LS, 144,000 miles

The car will not heat when I have it in park.  However it blows very nice hot air when driving.  When I’m at at stop lights I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal for it to continue to blow hot air.  If I let it just idle it will no longer blow hot air but will blow cooler air.  Please let me know your thoughts on what to do.  Thank you!

Well that's a classic sign of either your low on coolant with air in the system or the heater. Core itself is clogged up. Praise just low cuz he decars cost a fortune to replace
