I have a 2006 Chevy Tahoe LT with 162k miles
Yesterday while I was driving and I noticed that the transfer case said it was in neutral. This obviously wasnt the case because i was driving down the road. I presses the "2wd" button and all it did was flash the light for about a minute and then shut off again. I then pulled into a parking lot pressed the button again but it had the same result. i turned the car off then on again but the problem still persists.
Please note that the car still drives and shifts perfectly fine and goes into reverse without issue.

the transfer case shift motor could have gone out
