Have 2006 Matrix / Automatic, FWD, Replaced Rack&Pinion, had other mechanic, auto shop friends of my son start job. I finished, dropped subframe, replaced Rack and pinion and rebolted up Frame/rack to car. There is not enough slack in the steering linkage to easily reattach to steering wheel column. Not seeing information on how to do this. 1) Unbolt subframe/rack and lower enough to gain the slack needed to attach linkage? 2) Unbolt steering column to telescope up and align linkage. 3) other ....

I always do buying bowls in the steering column
