2006 Ford five hundred limited: known issues or repairs I should make before they break?

  • Hello Scotty, I appreciate the new site, thank you! I have a 2006 Ford five hundred limited , V-6, 3.0,  Aisin 6-speed auto, FWD, with around 150,000 miles that I purchased new. I try to stay on top of maintenance to keep it in good condition. I don't drive many miles since I'm retired. The only out of ordinary repairs I've had to make are replaced the alternator, and replaced the starter. I have regular maintenance done, oil changes, Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission fluid changed, radiator flushed regularly, Adaptive One brake pads and rotors, so, my questions, is there any known issues I should repair ahead of time, or to watch out for with this model, and since my car is FWD, does it have any fluid similar  to rear end grease on a rear wheel drive that should be changed on a front wheel drive car? Sorry to ramble on, and thank you,  John

Keep doing what your doing and ask your maintenance guy to check suspension parts (i'd be looking at all rubber and possibly replace before bad... after/if an inspection dictates.  Like trans mount, motor mount, suspension, etc).  Keep changing the oil(s) and filter(s) exactly like you have been doing.

@hillbilly
I appreciate the information, and when I have it in for the next service I will have them check the suspension. I didn't think about rubber, I.e. tranny and motor mounts.
Does my front wheel drive vehicle have anything similar to rear end grease, for the front drive, that needs changed? Thank you, John

Rubber boots on cv joints ; ) which will need replaced at some time but they (CV) usually fail after the boot fails and an ingress of environment gets to it (dirt). But a good visual under the car by a mech should catch that easily.
