Hi there, I have a 2006 VW Jetta with the 2.5 5 cylinder engine and 6 speed auto transmission (non dsg.) 118000 miles. Lately on acceleration around 2500 to 3000 rpm in 2 to 3 gear, I can hear a sort of scraping/hissing noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. Most noticable with windows down and driving by a building or fence. Inside the car it's pretty faint. The noise stops when I let off the gas and is not present at idle. Does not raise in pitch or volume that I can tell once it starts. Belts look okay but I know these cars have tentioner issues. Could this be what I'm looking at?
