Scotty,
I am looking at a 2006 Pontiac Vibe base 1.8L Toyota engine and 4sp Auto for my 16 year old son. It has 121,000 miles. I bought the Carfax and can see the oil was changed every 3000 miles. Has a new battery and alternator and no warning lights. One owner and no wrecks. Owner is asking $4500. Interior looks great. Outside it has a few dings, but it would be a car for a teenager. I believe it has a timing chain - does that need to be changed? OVERALL - what are your thoughts? I need to know since I have to make a decision in the next 2 days! WHAT DOES SCOTTY THINK? Any known issues I need to look out for?

They can be good cars. I would just have a mechanic inspect it and make sure everything is in order. Sounds like a good deal, but you want to be sure before you hand over any cash.
You are correct that it has a timing chain. No need to change it as it should outlast the engine. They last a LONG time, not like timing belts which need changing every 100k miles.
