. working on 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 sohc and there is a massive oil leak that is coming from the vvt solenoid but it only leaks when the solenoid is plugged in. I heard there is no oil pressure in the area when the system is not active. it only leaks at higher rpms it pours at 3500. I replaced the solenoid thinking it was that built still doing the same thing. i also replaced the oil pressure sensor as that was leaking too. I don't think there is supposed to be so much oil pressure in the area as the solenoid only has a small o ring that is not supposed to hold much oil pressure. pretty sure there is too much oil pressure in the area for some reason and oil is blowing past the o ring of the vvt solenoid. any ideas? couldnt find results on the internet.
Try flushing out the oil system first if you have a blockage the pressure will build up behind the blockage pray you can flush it without having to tear a little engine apart and physically find out what is blocked
