2006 Subaru Legacy Help

Dear Scotty,

I am faced with a dilemma, car prices as you know are atrocious and I totaled my 2006 Subaru Legacy, it has a 2.5 boxer and an automatic transmission. The car still runs and drives like a clock but its smashed up all over. A junkyard quoted me $300 for the body panels needed to pass PA inspection. I’m wondering if you think it is worth doing rather than gambling 8 to $10k on a used car. No airbags deployed and there’s no notable tranny or engine damage, still steers straight down the highway, what should I do? Please help!

Yours truly,

Jay

Get the panels and consider that you are now driving a car with character.

As long as the frame is good fix her up. Measure the distance from wheel well to tire. Do it on the tops and sides. They all should be the same or extremely close . While not an exact science, it will give you idea how bad it is if at all.
