My car is a 2009 Scion XB. I love my car, but after 100,000 miles, (it’s at 115,000 now). I have had to replace the alternator twice. (Each one only lasted a year.) I was just told it needs to be done again. I have always taken care of my car but in its old age it needs another alternator, spark plugs, new pistons and O rings. Older cars need TLC, but I am starting to wonder if I should continue down this road. I’m not a mechanic or rich. Should I keep repairing my car or look for something else?
If you have the oil burning 2.4L engine, then yes, now is the time to get rid of it.
Regarding the alternators, what are you buying? (Watch from 5:00) -

that's not normal. Something is overworking it.
Have your battery load tested
Make sure you have no parasitic drains
Make sure all main power and ground distribution connections are clean and tight
in its old age it needs ... spark plugs
These are routine consumable items. They are very inexpensive and easy to replace. Definitely NOT a reason to ditch a car.
new pistons
What's wrong with your pistons?
and O rings.
which O-rings?
What brand alternator did you put in? New? Rebuilt?
