Scotty,

Back in April 2019 I bought a gas engine 2008 Smart Fourtwo Passion Coupe with 51, 000 on the speedometer.  I paid $5, 000 (with a car loan)  and the car has ,with the exception of a few times( e-check to be able to get plates and tags for it) and to get a recall repair (engine noise damping mat put in) sat in my backyard undriven. Why because when I took my Smart car to the Mercedes-Benz dealer to get the recall item installed, They did a cursory inspection at the time and determined that the smart car needed hood latches replaced, it needed(s) all four brake pads , rotors, and drums, and all 4 tires  replaced, and there is a problem with the system wiring; because my 2008 Smart Fourtwo has a basic infotainment system with a 7 inch screen ,and even when you replace the old battery with a fully charged brand spanking new car battery the screen on the infotainment system lights up with a message, " extremely low battery. System shutting down" .

Now, I know it needs an oil change, the filters changed, brake pads, drums , rotors , tires, etc. but what I want to know is now that Mercedes-Benz who owned the Smart car brand has fully pulled the Smart dealerships out of the USA and Canada never to return. And even though I have been told there are a few specialty car shops that can possibly fix the problems with my Smart car( I've quoted $1,500 on up to at least $3,000) my question is,  should I put all that money into fixing up the Smart car if in 2022-2023 Mercedes-Benz is going to, only in China, and Europe , convert fully the Smart car brand cars into fully electric cars, so there won't be parts to replace on my on my gas engine Smart car, or should I just pay  off the last $1,400 I owe on this car  as fast as I can and junk it?

Replacement hood latches for the smart car because it's obviously always going over 80miles per hour 😂👍. In all seriousness though. I feel sorry for you. It's 100% not worth it to do any sort of work on that pos. Junk the thing. I would even go so far to say they are worse than Fiat.

Those are endless moneypits. I wouldn't sink any into it.

I would not put much into it....if it were mine I'd get a trustworthy non-dealer mechanic to inspect it to see if it really needs anything if you really want to keep it.  If not I would sell it.  They don't go for much though.
