Hey Scotty, My son is looking to buy a 2006 Toyota Tundra automatic V-6 with 192,000 miles on it from a customer of his. She says the check engine light is on and it needs a Catalytic convertor. We live in Florida and there is no vehicle inspection. He will use it for a work truck. She wants $5,200 (private owner) for it, is this a good truck to buy and a good price? What should we look for, we can see it tomorrow , she is letting my son take it home for the day. Thanks, Ron
Where the great trucks and if they don't inspect vehicles there and it runs okay I've seen people drive them years that way. But I would advise having a mechanic check it out first
I would definitely have a mechanic inspect it before buying. The converter may not be the only reason the check engine light is on.
I personally would pass as I don't buy cars with any dash lights on. It shows a lack of care for the vehicle/disregard for maintaining it appropriately.
