How often should you change your spark plug & engine oil if it burns oil regularly for like 1 quart every thousand miles? It has 115k miles on it and it still runs great though. i just recently bought it used and i just changed the sparkplug and fluids.
On new cars that would actually be be considered "normal" for warranty purposes.
Change the oil and filter at 5,000 mile intervals. (Q: What do you get when you add one quart of clean oil to three or four quarts of dirty oil? A: Four or five quarts of dirty oil.)
Monitor the spark plugs for fouling, but they should not be too bad at that rate of oil consumption.
Think about replacing your PCV valve if it's old. This can also cause oil consumption problems. They are relatively inexpensive.
I believe 2007 is part of the generation that did have oil consumption problems. Have you looked at the spark plugs, do they get crazy dirty?
I just changed it last week but i dont know how to inspect it. Two things i noticed is all of them has white dust i dont know how to call it and then the 3rd sparkplug has a little oil on the thread. But really the car runs smooth
It’s hard to gauge the frequency. Obviously you know to make sure the oil is filled properly between oil changes. My friend had that generation, and just did oil changes religiously, no top offs. And totally burned the engine starved of oil. Had to basically junk the car. Had he kept adding oil, I think the car would still be on the road today.
